Dr. Zainab Soumahoro earned her medical degree at the University of Cocody in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, followed by a residency in family medicine at Indiana University in Indianapolis.
She is a board-certified family medicine specialist whose experience includes family practice and urgent care clinics, as well as academic settings. In practice since 2005, she treats patients of all ages and speaks French.
Dr. Soumahoro’s primary clinical interests are preventive medicine and management of chronic diseases. She sees patients for acute conditions such as respiratory problems and urinary tract infections and chronic conditions including diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. She also does routine checkups, immunizations, well woman exams and cancer screenings.
Dr. Soumahoro is a strong advocate of patient-centered medical care and disease prevention. She utilizes current best-practice guidelines to provide the best possible care at affordable cost.
She wants her patients to feel that she is compassionate and a very good listener, but, most of all, for them to leave a visit understanding what is going on. Her greatest satisfaction comes when patients say, “Thank you so much for explaining that to me. I feel better already.”
Dr. Soumahoro is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
