Dr. Alakananda Mukherjee earned her undergraduate degree in biology at the University of North Texas and her medical degree at the American University of the Caribbean in Sint Maarten. She completed her residency in Louisiana at Baton Rouge General Hospital.
Dr. Mukherjee is a board-certified family medicine specialist who also holds certifications in basic life support, advanced cardiovascular life support and pediatric advanced life support. In practice since 2019, she treats patients of all ages and speaks Bengali.
She offers preventative care, screenings and weight maintenance, as well as treatment for acute illnesses and management of chronic illnesses such as diabetes and high blood pressure. Her approach to care is to develop a friendly, open and trusting relationship so patients feel they can approach her with any issue. She wants to create lifelong relationships where she can ensure that all their health care needs are met.
Dr. Mukherjee especially values her interactions with patients: taking care of them during their well visits, coming up with treatment plans together and watching them progress through their healthcare journeys.
Away from her practice, Dr. Mukherjee enjoys spending time with her family and friends, biking, weightlifting, traveling and cooking.
