Dr. Igor Gregoric earned his medical degree from the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, where he also finished an internship. He completed a residency in general surgery at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston), followed by a second residency in cardiothoracic surgery and a fellowship in cardiovascular surgery at the Texas Heart Institute.

Dr. Gregoric, who is board-certified in thoracic surgery, specializes in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, mechanical circulatory support and transplantation. His clinical interests include advanced heart failure, structural heart disease, heart transplantation, mechanical circulatory support (acute and chronic), surgical treatment of advanced heart failure, minimally invasive and robotic cardiothoracic surgery, TAVR (transcatheter aortic valve replacement), arrhythmia surgery and pulmonary embolectomy surgery. He has practiced in the Houston area since 2000.

A fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), Dr. Gregoric is also a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, American Association for Thoracic Surgery, American Society of Artificial Internal Organs and International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation. He has published more than 400 original articles in medical journals and authored numerous book chapters.

Dr. Gregoric is on the faculty of McGovern School of Medicine and serves as chief of the surgical division of the Center for Advanced Cardiopulmonary Therapies and Transplantations.
