Dr. Joseph Cocharan neurosurgeon at Mischer Neuroscience Associates-SouthwestMemorial Hermann Mischer Neuroscience Associates (MNA) and McGovern Medical School at UTHealth are pleased to announce the addition of Joseph Cochran, MD.

Dr. Cochran will serve as a neurosurgeon at Mischer Neuroscience Associates-Southwest as well as Mischer Neuroscience Associates-Sugar Land. He will also serve as an assistant professor at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth’s Vivian L. Smith Department of Neurosurgery.

Dr. Cochran will be a key member of the neurotrauma team at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, which recently embarked on a journey towards earning Level II trauma verification from the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Cochran specializes in endovascular surgery, cerebrovascular surgery, brain tumors, skull base surgery and complex and minimally invasive spine surgery. His clinical and research interests include cerebral vasospasm, traumatic vascular injuries and cervical artificial disc replacement, and he has a special interest in treating a variety of disorders, including: aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, brain tumors, disc disease, skull base tumors, spinal tumors, strokes, and traumatic brain and spine injuries.

Dr. Cochran is the co-author of articles that have appeared in the Journal of Neurosurgery, the International Journal of Radiation Oncology*Biology*Physics and the Annals of Advances in Automotive Medicine.

After receiving his medical degree at Chicago Medical School, Dr. Cochran completed his neurosurgical residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. Prior to joining Mischer Neuroscience Associates, he completed a two-year fellowship in cerebrovascular/skull base/endovascular surgery at McGovern Medical School.
