Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most common and most malignant (cancerous) form of high-grade (grade IV) astrocytoma. Glioblastomas make up approximately half of all astrocytomas and are the most common adult primary brain tumor. They usually occur in patients over fifty years of age.
Depending on the location of the mass, symptoms of glioblastoma may include seizure, weakness, speech problems, headaches, personality changes, memory loss and impairments in vision. Glioblastomas are resistant to therapeutic interventions. Treatment options include surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy.
