Dr. Leech graduated from the University of St. Thomas in Houston with a BS in Biology and then earned a MS in Biology from the University of Houston. She graduated from UT Houston (now McGovern) Medical school in 2005. After an internship in general surgery at UT Houston she transferred to residency in family medicine at the Memorial Family Medicine program at Memorial Hermann SW and then completed a fellowship in palliative medicine at M. D. Anderson.
Following completion of training she headed the palliative medicine program at Memorial Hermann Southwest and the inpatient hospice unit for Memorial Hermann Hospice. She was the medical director for both of these programs for seven years prior to joining the faculty of McGovern Medical School in 2017. She was then recruited to be the medical director for the palliative medicine program at Memorial Hermann in the Texas Medical Center.
