Dr. Sabeen Najam earned her medical degree at Aga Khan University in Karachi, Pakistan. She completed her internship and residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in rheumatology at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.
In practice since 2002, Dr. Najam is board certified in rheumatology and treats patients 17 years and older. She speaks Urdu and medical Spanish.
Her clinical interests include carpal tunnel syndrome, familial Mediterranean fever, giant cell arteritis, lucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis, gout, HCV-associated arthritis, HIV-associated rheumatic disease syndromes, hypermobility, localized scleroderma, lupus, lyme disease, metabolic myopathies, myopathies, osteoarthritis, osteonecrosis, osteonecrosis of the jaw (ONJ), osteoporosis, Paget's disease, polymyalgia rheumatica, pseudogout, psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, reactive arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, Sjögren's syndrome, spinal stenosis, spondyloarthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, Takayasu's arteritis, tendonitis/bursitis, vasculitis and Wegner's granulomatosis.
A member of the American Medical Association and American College of Rheumatology, Dr. Najam is a recipient of the annual Lupus Foundation Award. Her patients describe her as a very personable physician who treats patients like family and makes recommendations for care that she would want for her own family.
A resident of Sugar Land, Dr. Najam is married and the mother of a daughter and son. Her favorite
leisure activities are spending time with her family, reading books and traveling.
