Dr. Mohammad A. Zia earned his medical degree from Dow Medical College, which is now known as Dow University of Health Sciences, in Karachi, Pakistan. After completing two six-month internships, one in general surgery and one in internal medicine, at Civil Hospital in Karachi, Dr. Zia moved to the United States and completed a one-year internship at Mount Vernon Hospital, which is now called Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital, in Mount Vernon, New York.
Dr. Zia completed his residency training in Chicago with the University of Illinois College of Medicine at the Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center. He did additional training in a nephrology and hypertension fellowship at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.
Board certified in nephrology, Dr. Zia specializes in treating patients 18 years and older for diabetes (diabetes mellitus, type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes), hypertension (high blood pressure) and renal diseases (kidney diseases). He also cares for patients needing dialysis treatment.
Known for his attentive bedside manner and caring approach, Dr. Zia provides his patients with thorough care plans. Patients who require dialysis enjoy being able to receive their dialysis treatment in one of Dr. Zia’s three office locations.
When he is not seeing patients, Dr. Zia enjoys spending time in Spring with his wife and two children.
