Dr. Bandana Chawla, MD

Dr. Bandana Chawla earned her medical degree at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas before completing her residency in internal medicine at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston.

Board certified in internal medicine and lifestyle medicine, Dr. Chawla has been in practice since 1998. She treats patients ages 18 and older and also speaks Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu and some medical Spanish.

Her primary clinical interests are nutrition, weight control, weight loss, obesity, diabetes, fibromyalgia, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, hypercholesterolemia, indigestion, joint pain, liver disorders, lupus, menopause, migraine headaches, osteoporosis, renal disease, respiratory problems, rheumatoid arthritis, sinus disease, sleep apnea, stress management and wellness. Additionally, she administers sports physicals and well exams.

In her practice, Dr. Chawla emphasizes prevention, management and reversal of chronic disease through lifestyle changes and preventive medicine. She provides holistic care to patients, addressing the root cause of a disease and then, when appropriate, using diet and lifestyle as a therapeutic tool in combination with medication. Her patients value the time she spends with them, listening to their issues and empowering them to become holistically healthy.

A resident of central Houston, Dr. Chawla is married and the mother of two grown children. Away from her practice, she enjoys hiking, swimming, travel, yoga and mindfulness.
