Dr. Woihwan Kim earned his medical degree at the University of Louisville in Kentucky. He completed his general surgery residency at Albany Medical Center in Albany, N.Y., and a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston.
Board certified in surgery, Dr. Kim has been in practice since 2017 and treats patients ages 13 and older. He also speaks Korean and basic Spanish. His primary clinical interests are cancer of the colon, rectum, and anus; cancer prevention colonoscopy; diverticulitis; inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis; anorectal diseases, including hemorrhoids, fissures, abscesses and fistulas; and pelvic floor disorders.
An avid believer in patient advocacy, Dr. Kim takes time to help patients understand imaging and test results in the context of their medical issues. He welcomes all patient questions and actively involves patients in decision-making discussions and ensures that they leave his office with a clear understanding of their condition.
A resident of Katy, Dr. Kim is married and the father of one son. Away from his practice, he enjoys PC gaming, being involved in his church and reading. His favorite authors range from C. S. Lewis and Fyodor Dostoevsky to Timothy Keller and Malcolm Gladwell.
