Dr. Julie Lynn Holihan earned her medical degree from the University of Nevada School of Medicine in Reno. She completed an internship and residency in general surgery and a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery and bariatric surgery at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth).

Dr. Holihan, who has been in practice since 2012, is board certified in general surgery and treats patients age 18 and older. Her primary clinical interests are ventral, inguinal and hiatal hernias; bariatric surgery; foregut/reflux; and general surgery.

Her fellowship training in minimally invasive and robotic surgery allows her to provide a minimally invasive surgical approach whenever possible. She also has extensive research experience in the management of ventral hernias and brings evidence-based treatments to hernia care. She  takes time to explain things and develops a personalized treatment plan for each patient.

She is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Americas Hernia Society, Academic Surgical Society and Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.

Dr. Holihan is married and the mother of a young son. In her leisure time, she enjoys running, Peloton, trying new restaurants and spending time with her family and friends.
