The affiliated Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Program at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center provides comprehensive surgical and nonsurgical treatments.
Procedures offered include facial reanimation procedures for patients with facial paralysis, functional and aesthetic rhinoplasties for nasal obstruction and deformity, reconstructive surgery following skin cancer removal, microvascular free-tissue transfer, maxillofacial trauma repair and facial rejuvenation procedures. A collaborative effort between Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center and the department of Otorhinolaryngology at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), the program offers state-of-the-art care for patients with both simple and complex deformities of the head and neck region.
Once a care plan has been developed, we have at our disposal the most advanced treatment options available, including state-of-the-art minimally invasive procedures.
The program offers specialized procedures and services for the repair of facial and head/neck deformities. The goal of reconstructions is to achieve maximal functional restoration as well as improvement in patients' self-confidence.
In patients with facial weakness or paralysis following trauma or brain tumor resection, or of congenital or idiopathic origins, facial reanimation surgery can improve oral competency and speech and help restore a more natural smile.
Functional rhinoplasty has been shown to improve the quality of life for patients with nasal obstruction symptoms associated with sleep disorders or otherwise not responsive to medical therapies. We have expertise in the reconstruction of facial defects following skin cancer excision. Our ability to perform microvascular free-tissue transfer allows us to reconstruct the most complex of such facial defects.
We offer both surgical and minimally invasive treatment options for facial rejuvenation and aesthetic nasal deformity. Some of these procedures can be performed under local anesthesia.
